Typically, the beautiful Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is celebrated in the home or hospital room of a person who is seriously ill. Sometimes the only people present for the ritual are the sick person him/ herself, and the priest. But celebrating this gentle, powerful sacrament can also be a moving experience when celebrated communally as a parish family. We will celebrate the Anointing of the Sick as part of the 9:00 AM Mass on Saturday, August 1st.
Who is eligible to receive the sacrament? Anyone who is experiencing a serious or chronic illness of body or mind; anyone preparing for surgery or recovering from a recent injury or medical procedure; anyone whose mental or physical state of health is deteriorating in a significant way.
