Beginning on Saturday, August 1st, we will add a celebration of Mass at 9:00 AM on the First Saturday of each month. There may be some exceptions, but this 9:00 AM Mass (on the First Saturday only) will become a regular part of our Mass schedule.
The "First Saturday" of the month has held a special place in Catholic spiritual life since the early 20th century, and the appearance of the Blessed Mother to three peasant children at Fatima, Portugal. First Saturday devotions in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary were requested by Our Lady during her appearances to the children at Fatima. Those who wish to stay after Mass can participate in the recitation of the Rosary, and in prayers connected with this particular devotion.
Please note:
1. A communal celebration of the Anointing of the Sick is also scheduled for Saturday, August 1st, and will take place during the 9:00 AM Mass.
2. Attending the 9:00 AM Mass on a Saturday, here or in any parish, does not fulfill one's obligation for the weekend.
